BASKET BALL TEAM DEFEATS ST. ANDREWS
Old Stars Unable to Check Lead of the Sturdy Wildcats
GUMBERT AT GUARD
In the second game of the season the State boys won over St. Andrews by the score of 32 to 15. In the first half the Louisville bunch held them to a close score but at the beginning of the second part Kentucky set a pace which the former were not able to reach.
The visitors, although stars of former years, were not in the form showed by the Lexington bunch, who have improved quite a little since last Saturday's game. Among the St. Andrews' five were Hess, a former C.U. star, and Duncan, an old Transylvania man.
Tuttle was by far the shining light of the game, playing all over the floor and shooting goals from all angles. It appeared as if he were playing forward and the Louisville man guard. Morgan and Zerfoss also did some clever goal pitching.
For St. Andrews Duncan and Jansing probably did the best work.
The boys leave on a Southern trip Thursday, playing two games at Knoxville with Tennessee, and one with Maryville. With Scotty back in the game the Wildcats should be able to cop all of these.

WRANGLING MARS CONTEST
Lexington, Ky., Jan. 30. - (Special.) - Largely through the remarkable goal throwing of Tuttle, the State University basketball five defeated the St. Andrews team, of Louisville, at the auditorium here to-night by the score of 32 to 15. The game was a rough and tumble affair from start to finish. The first half was fairly close, ending with the score 15 to 11 in favor of the local boys. In the second half the team played to Tuttle, and he scored with great regularity, tossing five baskets in the final period.
The visitors lacked the aggressiveness of the Lexington boys and were inferior in teamwork. The game was marred from the spectators' standpoint by frequent wrangling over decisions, the Louisville boys on several occasions objecting strenuously to Referee Keith's ruling.
State scored first on a field goal by Morgan, and the lead they took on this score was never headed and at no time did the Louisville team show in front of the Blue and White.
Besides Tuttle, Morgan and Zerfoss played a fast game for State, while Duncan probably did the best work for the visitors, showing more speed and aggressiveness than his teammates.

STATE FIVE TO MEET OLD CENTRAL PLAYERS
St. Andrews Team of Louisville to Play Wild Cats At Auditorium
St. Andrew's basketball five will hold forth Saturday evening at the auditorium against the varsity squad from the State University in a game which should be reminiscent of former days when Central University held a premier place on the athletic map of the state. This announcement was made last night by Graduate Manager Joe Turner, of the university team.,P>Old stars in the game, the Seelbach boys, Van Dyck, Hess, Moser and Duncan, will be seen in the lineup of the visitors' men, who, in other days, put Central University in the spotlight, and will try their skill against the varsity of the State University.
From Louisville comes the rumor that the St. Andrew's team is the most dreaded aggregation in the Falls City, which, if the old stars have retained their form, should be true.
The game is called for promptly at 8 o'clock at the auditorium in Woodland Park. A record attendance of basketball fans who followed the game in days past, along with the younger generation, is anticipated.

WILDCATS TO PLAY OLD STARS TONIGHT
One of Fastest Games of the Season Expected at Woodland Auditorium
One of the hardest fought basketball games of the season will be played at the Woodland Auditorium tonight between the Wildcats of the University of Kentucky and an all-star team from Louisville, called the St. Andrew's Church team. Several old stars will be in the game including several men who distinguished themselves in athletics representing Central University years ago when Central had one of the strongest teams in the state. Coach Brumage, of the Wildcats, says that he believes the St. Andrew's team outclasses any other team in Louisville and probably ranks equally with Christ's Church team of Cincinnati.
The Wildcats flushed by their victory over the University of Louisville last Saturday, are in excellent condition for the game tonight and with stiff practice during the week have brushed off some of the rough edges that showed in the game with the Cardinals. The regular line-up will start the game for the Blue and White, with perhaps the exception of Scott, the hardworking guard, who has been out of the game on account of slight illness. In the event of his inability to play, Gumbert will be sent in to work with Tuttle. Server will be in his old position at center, with Zerfoss and Morgan attending to the advance work on the floor.
Louis Seelbach, an old Central University star; Hess VanDyke, Duncan, Blake, Moser and probably Jansen will represent St. Andrew's. Janesen is an old Y.M.C.A. star from Louisville, while most of the other men are old Central players.
