On Jan. 24th the V.M.I. quint met the University of Kentucky, defeating them by the decisive score of 32 to 18. The team showed marked improvement in every department, particularly in passing and shooting baskets, and from present indications needs only practice to develop into a most formidable aggregation for the remaining important games. The visitors put up a hard fight throughout, contesting every point. It is difficult to pick out any particular stars, the whole team playing fast and consistently together. Captain Lowry at forward, was however, the back bone of the team, with Clarkson right on the job as usual. Schwalb was all over the floor and Fetterolf shot well. For the visitors, Tom Zerfoss and Preston played well. A feature of the game was Captain Brumage's familiar face and voice on the sidelines.

The whole squad looked forward with interest to playing the University of Kentucky, because it was coached by Captain Brummage, our coach, for the past two years. And so they entered the game with the set purpose of winning, and came out with a score of 38 to 22.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 24 - (Special) - Maneuvering with greater skill and precision V.M.I. defeated the University of Kentucky quintet in a keen clash tonight 32 to 18. The Cadets inaugurated the battle with a rally and maintained the lead until the close. The Kentucky five battled on the defensive from the outset, but could not overcome the effective passing of V.M.I.

Although Kentucky fought fiercely to retrieve the lead it was unable to do so. S. Lowry and Fetterolf featured the offensive tactics for V.M.I., while Clarkson starred on the defensive. The defensive play of Capt. Tuttle and Zerfoss' dazzling shots featured for Kentucky.

V.M.I. QUINT BEATS KENTUCKY

Team Plays Splendid Ball and Wins by Score of 32 to 18

Lexington, Va., January 25 - After the defeat by Catholic University on Friday afternoon by a score of 17 to 12, V.M.I. Cadet quint came back hard and fast last night, winning from the University of Kentucky by a score of 32 to 18.

The entire team played splendid ball, showing great improvement both in passing and shooting over their former play. For the Cadets, Fetterolf and S. Lowry, starred in all-round play while Clarkson's guarding was a feature of the game.

For Kentucky, Preston and Zerfoss did splendid work.

Fetterolf began the scoring by a shot from under the basket, and from then on V.P.I was in the lead. B. Lowry substituted for Batten in the second half.
