VIRGINIA BESTS KY. BASKETBALL QUINT
In Fastest Game of Season Va. Wins by 39 to 23 - Luck Disqualified by Kentucky. Game Delayed.
In the fastest game seen on the home floor this season, Virginia defeated the University of Kentucky by the score of 39 to 23. Both teams started off with a rash which gave promise of a close score.
The game was not called until 9:30 on account of Kentucky's unwillingness to accept a local referee. Mr. Colliflower, of Georgetown, was sent for and arrived on the 9 o'clock train from Washington. Kentucky also protested against the eligibility of [J.M.] Luck, claiming that, under the S.I.A.A., he was barred because he played on Vanderbilt last year.
The pleasure of the game was somewhat marred by the repeated rough play of both teams. Campbell and Zerfoss were the stars of the contest.
