Obituary - Edward Y. Mason Jr., Louisville Courier-Journal (February 14, 1981)
Edward Y. Mason Jr., 41, of 499 Lightfood Road, died there Friday of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Deputy Coroner James B. Egner.
He was an investment broker, a member of the board of trustees of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the board of directors of Shelby County National Bank in Shelbyville and the Bank of Magnolia, and the Louisville Boat Club, and a deacon at Broadway Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Rebecca Shaver; two daughters, Deborah and Katie Mason; a son, James E. Mason; his parent, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Y. Mason Sr. of Elizabethtown; and a brother, Charles T. Mason of Chicago.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Broadway Baptist Church, 4000 Brownsboro Road.
Visitation at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the church building fund or the donor's favorite charity.
