Rufus W. Gilbert
Funeral services will be held Saturday for Rufus William (sic) Gilbert, 76, of 905 S. Fifth St., who died at 5 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Hospital after an illness of one day.
The Rev. C.A. Burkholder will officiate at 2 p.m. rites in Martin's Drawing Room Chapel. Cremation will follow.
Mr. Gilbert, a geologist, had lived in Grand Junction since 1946. He was born in Warren, Minn., and spent his childhood there and in Michigan. Following his graduation from college, he played professional baseball for several years, and later taught athletics at Rose College in California (sic).
He was married here on Jan. 3., 1947, to Helen Ava Harris, Mrs. Gilbert survives.
