Herbert Underwood
HYDE PARK - Herbert G. Underwood, 77, Cardinal Drive, died Wednesday at Vassar Hospital.
Born in Poughkeepsie, Feb. 10, 1898, he was the son of Walter F. and Grace (Paulus) Underwood. He was a veteran of World War I. An area resident all his life, he was retired and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Poughkeepsie.
In addition to his wife, the former Lela Delanoy, he is survived by a son, Jean H., Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Mrs. Una Urenburg, McLean, Va.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Schoonmaker Chapel Inc., 73 S. Hamilton St., Friday night, 7 to 9 o'clock.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Schoonmaker Chapel. The Rev. Kurt Klingbeil will officiate. Burial will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
